Thirsk is ideally situated in the centre of North Yorkshire and is very accessible from all parts of the country via the A1/A1(M).
From the south, follow the road signs for Thirsk, leaving the A1 via the A168 as you pass Dishforth Airfield on the right. From the north it is simplest to leave the A1 at the same junction (49). After 6 miles take the first turn off for Thirsk (B1448). After 1 mile you enter Thirsk, with a school building on the right. Laburnum House is the 3rd house on the right beyond the school entrance.
From the north, satnav will use a shorter route, leaving the A1 via the B6267, signposted to Thirsk, turning right from the slip road. After 2 miles, join the A61 and enter Thirsk, passing the Railway Station and the Racecourse. Bear right past Tesco and after passing the garage on the left, turn right at the next mini-roundabout. You are now on the B1448* - see below.
From Teesside (A19), York (A19) or Scarborough (A170), follow the signs to Thirsk Market Place, then briefly take the A61 towards Ripon. After a sharp double bend, bear left at a mini-roundabout onto the *B1448 (A168). After 500 yds keep straight on at the pelican lights. Laburnum House is a further 300 yds on the left. It is the 11th house on the left after the traffic lights.
Thirsk Train Station is 1 mile away. Guests can be met by prior arrangement.

Laburnum House is a short minute walk to Thirsk Market Place (0.5 miles) where reasonably priced meals can be obtained at many hotels, restaurants and cafes.
It is ideally situated to explore Thirsk, ie The Herriot Centre, Thirsk Museum and St Mary's Church, which is the largest Perpendicular Gothic church in North Yorkshire. Thirsk Racecourse is 10 minutes walk away.
We are centrally located to visit the Yorkshire Dales, York and Harrogate - all within 45 minutes driving - and our beautiful coastline, Whitby, Scarborough, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay - all just over an hour's drive. The North York Moors National Park is much closer; with the Visitor Centre at Sutton Bank just 15 minutes away.
